Mount Meru

Mt. Meru is the second highest mountain in Tanzania and towers over the city of Arusha from almost every angle. The stratovolcano is considered the perfect acclimatization for a Kilimanjaro climb and can be climbed in 3-4 days. Meru is the heart of the Arusha National Park and the first day tour leads through the plains and forest slopes, which are home to the park’s numerous wildlife. The view from the summit is breathtakingly beautiful – with the best view of Kilimanjaro in the distance. Many of our volunteers choose to climb Meru because during their time in Arusha it has become “their” mountain that you can see and admire every day.
