Programme Overview

Volunteering in the teaching program in Tanzania is a rewarding and impactful experience. As a volunteer, you will have the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of underprivileged children and contribute to the development of education in the country. As a volunteer teacher, you will have the chance to teach a variety of subjects, including English, math, geography, computing, and more. Depending on your skills and experience, you can assist the teaching staff, conduct extracurricular activities, and provide individualized attention to students who may need extra support.

Programme Requirements

To participate in the teaching program in Tanzania with Rafiki Interns & Volunteers Africa, applicants are expected to meet a few key requirements. These include:

  • Volunteers must be 17 years or older at the time of joining the project.
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred but not always mandatory.
  • Fluency in English is essential as it will enable effective communication and instruction with students and local staff members.
  • Volunteers need to be flexible, open-minded and have a passion for working with children.

Duration and Location

The duration of our teaching program is flexible based on your availability and can range from several weeks up to several months. We offer placements across various regions within Tanzania including rural areas where educational resources are limited but much needed.

Living Arrangements and Accommodation

Rafiki Interns & Volunteers Africa will arrange suitable accommodation close to project locations for all volunteers. Our goal is to provide a comfortable stay while giving you the chance to experience everyday life in the local community. Accommodation options may vary, but typically include shared rooms (separated by gender), common spaces for relaxation and socializing, access to electricity and water (with occasional interruptions), as well as other basic amenities to support your stay.
